About Me
Hi, I’m Casey. I have a deep passion for cyber security, cloud computing, and system automation. I’m a 20+ year IT veteran with hands-on experience in some of Australia’s most tightly regulated industries, including finance, energy, gambling, and payments. I’ve worked across large-scale enterprise environments where compliance, resilience, and security aren't just nice-to-haves, they’re non-negotiable.

I’ve been lucky enough to work on some genuinely complex problems in high-stakes environments, and I’ve picked up a few grey hairs (and battle scars) along the way. These days, I get the most satisfaction out of helping others level up, making systems safer, and finding smarter ways to get things done.
I build things
I enjoy solving tricky problems and then getting hands-on to bring the solution to life. Azure is my cloud of choice, and I’ve helped plenty of organisations move their systems into the cloud without losing control or visibility along the way.
I write a lot of code. DevOps, to me, is not just a buzzword but a proper discipline. I use it to build sustainable, repeatable, and fully automated cloud solutions using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines. Whether it’s spinning up IaaS workloads, deploying serverless apps with Azure Functions, or running microservices on AKS, I build it, automate it, and keep it tidy.
Outside of work, I keep building. I tinker with microelectronics, make things with my 3D printer, and run a personal home automation setup that controls lights, climate, and even coffee. Sometimes it works perfectly. Sometimes it starts a conversation with the fridge.
I’m also into woodworking, and I’ve set up a small workshop at home. It helps me unwind, gives me a break from screens, and scratches that itch to learn new skills with real tools and real danger!
I automate things
I’m a bit of a polyglot when it comes to languages — Python, PowerShell, and C# are all part of the toolkit. Most of my colleagues know that if you want something automated, the quickest way is to make me do it manually once.
I firmly believe that asking a human to follow steps one through ten from a Word document is a waste of potential. If a task is structured and repeatable, a computer should be doing it. People should be putting their cognitive gifts to work by solving unstructured problems, not clicking buttons on a screen out of habit.
I automate everything from business processes to Azure infrastructure to minor irritations in my personal life. If I can script it, schedule it, or trigger it from a sensor, it’s probably already done. Sometimes it works beautifully. Sometimes the blinds open at 2am and I have to apologise to the neighbours.
I secure things
To secure something properly, you need to know how it can be broken. Fortunately for me, I’ve got a knack for breaking things.
I really enjoy the challenges that come with offensive security. My background in development helps me understand how applications are built and how they interact with other systems. That knowledge is crucial when hunting for weaknesses and figuring out how an attacker might get in.
As Einstein said, “Any fool can know. The point is to understand.” That’s exactly how I approach security.
In my spare time, I sharpen my ethical hacking skills by tackling challenges on platforms like HackTheBox. It’s an invaluable way to stay sharp and keep up with the latest tricks.
I choose to use my powers for good. I’ve worked with developers, sysadmins, and organisations to identify how their systems, applications, and even people can be exploited. Then I help them fix those vulnerabilities and put controls in place to prevent future issues.
